About Grouse Fibre

Our Story

Grouse Fibre was formed in 2024 in response to the climate emergency. Our protein fibre concept was formed and refined by Dr. Tom O'Haire, our founder and CEO. Our team combines materials scientists, chemists and agronomists to tackle the challenge of sustainable protein fibre manufacture.

We love making new materials and fibres.

We are committed to creating a commercially viable protein fibre production platform that scales. This can help drive the transition to peat-free growing media.

Our motivation

This idea came about when we asked ourselves the question "What is the most important and impactful thing we can work on?".

The answer to that question is finding a sustainable means of generating protein fibres and applying them in an application that values their unique characteristics. Our knowledge of polymers and fibre production places us in a position where we can drive this development forward.

However, we do not know everything. We are keen to speak with experts in protein feedstocks, fibre processing and commercial horticulture.
