We are sourcing waste milk and converting it into fibres. On the way we will produce technical casein. This is a key industrial material with a variety of use cases and applications. We are keen to engage with the dairy industry on securing new streams of waste milk.
As we source our feedstock from waste milk (lab testing, AB and HCC dairy) our products will carry a significantly lower CO2e footprint that equivalent food grade caseins. Our target is to produce less than 1kg CO2e per kg of casein protein. This compares to 72 kg CO2e for mainstream milk protein.
Casein has a long history as a key ingredient in glues and resins. In the late 20th Century it was largely displaced by synthetics. However, a market remains for casein glues in labelling, woodworking and historical and sustainable craft applications. We are developing our own casein glue.
From casein, we can create compounds and derivative products. Caseinates, particularly sodium and calcium caseinate, are versatile industrial ingredients used in pharmaceuticals, agriculture and techanical applications wheere they actas emulsifiers, stabilisers, and binding agents.
